In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

PARK CITY’S HISTORIC DISTRICT WELCOMES KIDS, ADULTS AND DOGS FOR TRICKS AND TREATS ON HALLOWEEN

PARK CITY, Utah (October 25, 2011) – The Historic Park City Alliance (HPCA) is pleased to host a bag full of tricks and treats on Park City’s Main Street as Halloween approaches. Kids and adults are invited to take part in the ghoulish festivities, which fall on a Monday this year.

The family-friendly tradition of trick-or-treating along Main Street will begin at 3pm, where kids and parents can trick and treat at Historic District businesses until 5:30pm. Park City’s annual Howl-o-Ween Dog Parade returns once again, kicking off at 5pm in front of the Egyptian Theatre. Costumed pups and their owners will parade down Main Street for an always-entertaining display of local canines. A photo booth will be available to ghosts, goblins and pups. Peak Art and Frame will be taking photos in Miner’s Park.  Photos will be $8 and include a 5x7” printout plus an emailed copy. Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Heber Avenue to the Wasatch Brew Pub from 3 until 5:30pm to allow pedestrians and pooches to wander safely.

New for 2011, 20 kids with a local glee club will perform ghoulish dances and songs in at Miner’s Park at 4:30pm. At 5pm, the glee club will kick off the Howl-o-Ween Dog Parade and lead the pack in song and dance down Main Street.

“HPCA merchants are excited to be an important part of Park City’s Halloween festivities year after year,” said Alison Butz, Executive Director of the HMBA. “Halloween in Park City is truly a community event. The Halloween festivities are always geared for people of all ages, and it encourages friends and neighbors to connect in Park City.”
