In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

HISTORIC PARK CITY DISTRICT OFFERS FREE PARKING AND FAMILY-FRIENDLY HOLIDAY EVENTS THROUGHOUT DECEMBER

PARK CITY, Utah (November 17, 2011) – In the spirit of the holidays, all metered parking will be free on Main Street beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving and running through December 16, 2011. The Historic Park City Alliance (HPCA), along with the Park City Municipal Corporation, is spearheading the free parking offer. Additionally, a full schedule of holiday events and activities will take place in the Historic District throughout December to celebrate the festive winter season.

“As a thank you to locals and visitors for their support over the year, we’d like to give a nice holiday gift to the community,” said Alison Butz, Executive Director of HPCA. “Free parking will help save people a few minutes and make their holiday to-do list a little easier to tackle.”

Main Street’s colorful winter light display will kick off the holiday season on November ____ at __pm. Additional events throughout December include carolers on the weekends, Park City Glee performances, Santa at the Town Lift Plaza, the second annual Winter Solstice Electric Parade and a day of music on Main presented by Mountain Town Music.

“Holidays on Main is a way for locals and visitors to experience a fun, cheerful atmosphere and get in the winter spirit,” said Butz. “We’re fortunate that Historic Park City embraces a lively, merry environment during this time of year, which enhances the Main Street experience for visitors.” A full list of holiday activities in Historic Park City is listed below.
