In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

Kimball Art Center

The Kimball Art Center is the heart of Park City's historic and vibrant arts community. We are a nonprofit center for the arts, committed to engaging individuals of all ages in diverse and inspiring experiences through education, exhibitions and events.

The Kimball Art Center is your nonprofit community art center. Starting with art lover Bill Kimball'€™s vision in 1976, members of the Park City community transformed the Kimball Brothers'€™ Garage into today's Kimball Art Center. In this spirit of community involvement and excellent art, the Kimball continues to expand its educational outreach programs and bring top quality exhibitions from across the country to Park City.

The Kimball is free and open to the public year-round, furthering access to the visual arts for the community. The art center also offers classes for children and adults while giving members access to our ceramics, photography and painting studios.

Kimball Art Center Overview

The Kimball Art Center was created in 1976 by Bill Kimball, who envisioned transforming a dilapidated garage in a historic building into a nonprofit community art center. Since its inception, the Kimball Art Center's mission and purpose has been to promote and provide access to visual arts for everyone. Each year to achieve this the Kimball Art Center showcases 20 visual art exhibitions, teaches art classes in a myriad of media (painting, drawing, ceramics, metal work, glass, silversmith, photography, etc.), hosts monthly Art Talks, performs community outreach to teachers and students and produces The Park City Kimball Arts Festival each year.
