In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

Park City's Egyptian Theatre and Broadway In The Mountains are excited to announce their presentation of the much-beloved musical, "The Fantasticks", from September 9-18.

The original off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks ran a total of 42 years with 17,162 performances, making it the world's longest-running musical. The show won a Tony Award of Excellence  in 1992. Currently it is celebrating a revival production in NYC that is playing to packed houses at the Snapple Theater.

It is the story of love found, lost, and found again...in the most unusual way.  Two fathers scheme to make their children fall in love by forbidding them contact with one another, under the premise that children always disobey their parents in matters of love. But the plot thickens, tragedies both real and false befall the lovers, and the swarthy narrator,  El Gallo, helps twist a web of deceipt.

"The Fantasticks" music by Harvey Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones. Both Scmidt and Jones were inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in 1999.

Shows are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm, Saturday early show at 4:30, Sundays at 6pm. Tickets start at $22 adults $12 children. Show is appropriate for all ages.
