In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

Stand-Up Comedy at the Egyptian

People come to Park City year-round to enjoy a good time.  The town abounds with recreational activities, live music, festivals,  and on occasion, Stand-Up Comedy.

The historic Egyptian Theatre on Main Street knows how to cater to this summer's crowds and their appetite for fun. With that in mind, they are bringing two nights of Stand-Up Comedy to the historic theatre to entertain the walk-by tourist, the destination visitor from the Wasatch Front, and the many locals that make the Egyptian Theatre their regular home for weekend entertainment.

On August 5 & 6th, once again, the Egyptian Theatre will host the Stand-Up Like An Egyptian Comedy Show. This (sort-of) monthly show features MC Kathleen McCann and a revolving entourage of national comedians. The August dates will showcase Headliner Kurt Swann and Featured Comedian, Chris Zapatier.

Kurt Swann is originally from the Midwest and started performing in Chicago, both in Stand-Up Comedy and Improv. After moving to the West Coast he continues to be a favorite at clubs throughout Southern California and was a finalist in the 2010 San Francisco Comedy Competition. He hosts the critically acclaimed West Coast Funnies, writes for the syndicated comic strip "Dustin", has appeared on Sirius Satellite Radio, and performs at clubs and colleges across the country.

Chris Zapatier explains his pathway to comedy as a detour from what he saw as his destiny. As Chris explains it, he was born and raised in South Florida amidst pandemic immigration and legions of White Trash.  After high school, like most of his peers, he languished in community college for four years before it dawned on him that he was destined for a brighter future than a career in telemarketing and a room in his parent's garage. Tired of wasting away in Margaritaville, he embarked on a new path, comedy in its many forms. Check out his website at  www.literarylaughs.com.
