In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

Running of the Balls

Pamplona has Running of the Bulls, Park City has Running of the Balls.

Park City's World Famous Running of the Balls takes place on Main Street on Labor Day at 10:45.
Running of the Balls?  The way it works is; you "adopt" a ball for $5 or 5 balls for $20 as part of a fundraiser for Park City Rotary Club's charity projects.   When the balls are released on Main Street, in front of Java Cow, they are tracked down their route and the first ball through the shuteat the bottom of the street will win it's owner a valuable prize, such as airline tickets, season ski passes and many other great donated prizes. There will be over 10 other prizes awarded for close finishers. Check out the video above to see how it works.  Buy a "Ball" and enjoy the fun... it's for a great cause!

Immediately following Running of the Balls is the Park City Miners Day Parade at 11am.
