In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

With Halloween just about a month away, 'tis the season to get spooked. And there's no better way to get a fun scare than by taking a walk through Park City's haunted past with Park City Ghost Tours. Perhaps you've noticed groups of people walking from Miner's Park to lower Daly Avenue led by costumed guides. Stops are made at locations along the way where tales of Park City's ghosts are told.

Park City's colorful mining past was replete with fatal accidents in the mines hundreds of feet below ground, in addition to drinking, gambling and the presence of brothels that sometimes led to murder. There were also large-scale fires that destroyed much of town and caused deaths.

The founders of Park City Ghost Tours have researched the town's history as it relates to stories of murder and mysterious deaths, and they live to share the tales with guests looking for some enchanting ghost stories. Most of the ghosts haunting Park City are harmless, they claim.

Park City Ghost Tours operates nightly at 8 p.m. starting from Miner's Park on Main St. The tour lasts 70 minutes and is $20 for adults and $10 for kids 16 and under. Make a reservation by calling 435.615.7673. For more details visit Park City Ghost Tours.
