In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

Gallery Stroll Highlights in March

Every month, our Park City galleries offer the community a tour of their artistic wares. Each gallery in the Park City Gallery Association opens their doors from 6 to 9 pm, on the last Friday of the month, and encourages visitors to experience fine art and refreshments on our mountain town Gallery Stroll.

On this night, the participating galleries feature eats and drinks for you to enjoy, and you’ll find many artists in attendance for their own show openings and receptions. In addition, watch for artists painting in the galleries, or even on Main Street.

Three galleries are presenting special exhibitions and works of art during the March 25th Gallery Stroll.

Two currents of Gallery MAR's most popular abstract artists come together for this new exhibition. "Two Waters": Matt Flint and Shawna Moore.

Encaustic artist Shawna Moore and mixed media painter Matt Flint will be at Gallery MAR for an exhibition and artist reception on Friday, March 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Dancing Hands Gallery welcomes California Stone artist Steve Tucker this month. To celebrate our new association, Steve has created a series of 10-12" Skiers carved in alabaster just for the gallery. They are delightful. We encourage you to come soon as they are limited editions.

Thomas Kearns McCarthey Gallery is excited to present a special exhibit by one of our exceptional and unique artists, Veniamin Alekseevich Safonov.  Of the hundreds of Russian artists we at the McCarthey Gallery have met and represented over the years, Veniamin Safanov is truly singular.  The artist's brand of impressionism is a touch more abstract than most of his colleagues of the period.  His thick paint, textured work and bright colors mark him as a favorite for both collectors and critics.
