In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

First Winter Blast to Kick off the Season and Raise Money for the Egyptian Theatre

The Egyptian Theatre will host a new annual gala event called "First Winter Blast" to take place at Montage Deer Valley on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011. A lavish evening of seasonal celebration, guests are encouraged to dress in winter-white or seasonal attire (optional, of course). First Winter Blast is a winter kick-off celebration, intended to showcase Park City as the finest winter resort destination in North America.
 
The gala includes the following:
Social Hour with door prizes and free drawings for all that arrive between 5:30pm and 6pm. Libations will be available throughout the evening, along with grand toasts to our cool winter wonderland.

  • Live and silent auctions with items donated from around the world
  • A sumptuous 5-course dinner created by the culinary staff at Montage Deer Valley, along with fine-wine pairings, a full bar, and a signature "Winter Blast" cocktail
  • Preview of Egyptian Theatre entertainment from Park City Burlesque and Jesus Christ Superstar.
  • Local celebrity emcees Billy Demong (First US athlete to earn an Olympic gold medal in Nordic Skiing) and Hope Woodside (Fox13 News Anchor)
  • A winter gear and fashion show featuring celebrity models including Bryon Friedman, Erik Schlopy, Mayor Dana Williams and Jill Johnson
  • An opportunity drawing featuring Grand Prize- a week in New York City that includes tickets to The Book Of Mormon musical and $500 in spending cash. Second and Third prizes are Pharaoh Club Memberships to the Egyptian Theatre
  • Dancing to "Sin City Soul" - live band playing great dance music

First Winter Blast will take place each year on the same weekend, the Saturday we set the clocks back, giving guests an extra hour to socialize and celebrate!

Tickets for the gala are $250 per person or $2500 for a table of ten, which guarantees best table placement near the entertainment.

To add to the day's festivities and to build enthusiasm for the upcoming ski season, the Egyptian Theatre is also coordinating a Snow Dance Parade and party on Main Street during the day of November 5. The giant street party will help usher in Utah's Greatest Snow on Earth.

This Snow Dance Parade and Party is free to the public.

  • 10:30 am - Music by "Sin City Soul and Beer Garden in Wasatch Brew Pub parking lot. 
  • 11:00 am - Parade assembly and line up at top of Swede Alley.
  • 11:15 am (Open-Participation) Snow Dance Parade down Main Street to 4th Street,                 returning to Brew Pub parking lot via Swede Alley. Marchers are encouraged to select their own distinct snow-dance move to perform the length of the parade route, in hopes of enticing the onset of winter snows.
  • 11:30 am -1:30 pm Beer Garden and Sin City Soul continue with more Snow Dancing in Brew Pub lot.
