Jan. 2011: Slamdance
Monday, January 10, 2011
Establihed in 1995, Slamdance has continued to showcase their festival and films in Park City during the same time as the Sundance Film Festival. Slamdance, once again, calls the Treasure Mountain Inn home for their festival.
As a year-round organization, Slamdance serves as a showcase for the discovery of new and emerging talent and is dedicated to the nurturing and development of new independent artists and their vision. For the 2011 Festival, Slamdance received a record number of over 5,000 submissions. Slamdance Film Festival, presented again by Kodak, will run concurrently with the Sundance Film Festival, January 21-27, 2011 in Park City, Utah. Slamdance lives by its mantra: "By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers." No other festival is fully programmed by filmmakers. Slamdance counts among its alumni many notable writers and directors who first gained notice at the festival, including Christopher Nolan, Marc Forster, Jared Hess and Oren Peli. In 2010, Slamdance began a video on demand partnership with Microsoft and will continue to expand its exhibition efforts in 2011 both theatrically and online. New filmmakers and writers today realize Slamdance is a great place to launch their careers.
“All Is Not Lost” is the theme for the 2011 Festival and this year Slamdance will donate 10 percent of ticket proceeds back to the filmmakers. For more information, log onto www.slamdance.com and follow Slamdance on Twitter and Facebook.
