Renovated Riverhorse on Main Open for Lunch
Thursday, January 19, 2012
A longtime staple of Main Street's fine dining scene, Riverhorse on Main has new owners who recently invested in a major overhaul of the spacious restaurant. The contemporary design scheme impeccably marries accents of Park City's natural environment with a cutting-edge, urban-inspired twist. Both dining room spaces are considerably more intimate than they previously were. Perhaps the most striking new addition is a stylish bar area featuring banquette seating and about ten bar stools. The sleek, lounge-style bar serves as both a waiting area as well as an ideal place to stop in for a leisurely cocktail and appetizer with a date.
The dinner menu has been given a facelift as well and features several local products. New entree offerings include Pan-Seared Barramundi with cherrystone clams and creamy risotto and a Trio of Wild Game that consists of elk, venison and buffalo. Riverhorse traditionalists need not fear as ever-popular, signature menu items remain in place and are as delectable as ever - yes, the Macadamia-crusted Alaskan halibut with mango chutney, broccolini and mashed potatoes is still a standout. Other entrees worth trying include Rocky Mountain Rack of Lamb, Snake River Farms Kobe Beef NY Strip and All Natural Niman Ranch Braised Pork.
The appetizer selection is extensive, and it's tempting to make meal of them by sharing several items amongst a table of friends. The vegetarian, Asian-style potstickers, a Riverhorse classic, remains. Additional, interesting selecions include Crispy Local Pork Belly and Foie Gras Torchon. Those needing a seafood fix will be delighted by the seafood sampler for two consisting of Blue Point oysters blood orange granita-poached shrimp cocktail and snow crab claws.
Riverhorse now serves lunch with a fabulously diverse offering of salads, soups, appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. Standout items are a smoked salmon appetizer with a potato pancake, crème fraiche and dill, a Pepper-Seared Ahi Tuna salad with a tangy ginger vinaigrette, and the Tempura Lobster Po' Boy sandwich. Devotees of the halibut featured on the dinner menu will enjoy the lunch variation in which it is served with lemon emulsion, mango and heirloom rice.
While the hot spot boasts changes many are raving about, unchanged are the impressive wine offerings and high-caliber service by a seasoned wait staff. One visit to the new and improved Riverhorse on Main will have fine dining and wine aficionados enthusiastically adding it to their regular rotation of dining venues.
