Nov. 2010: Perfect Day in Park City
Wednesday, November 24, 2010
I wake up most mornings to the sounds of Park City. Sometimes the paper delivery boy, or the trash truck, the recycle van, neighbors going to work, some construction project going on in my neighborhood, etc.
But I love to wake up on the first snow day of the year (assuming it is morning). There is a quietness like no other. The snow plows don’t have it together yet so the city turns into a beautiful white world of freshness. I like to snuggle down under my comforter and enjoy the peacefulness as long as I can.
Then I love travelling up to Historic Main Street to open our store. We are a year round Christmas and Holiday Store and everyday is a holiday for us. The first snowfall seems to bring out the best in the residents of Park City. Historic Main Street becomes a wonderland. Smiles are on faces and everyone is thinking about when the ski resorts will be able to open. Stores and art galleries are decorating and looking forward to the holidays and tourists. Restaurants are changing over to their winter menus and creating the exciting dishes they will prepare for our visitors and our locals.
I moved here over 13 years ago after living in numerous cities around the US. I can’t imagine living anywhere else now. It is our home and a vision of God’s paradise. And Historic Main Street is a special place I hope residents and visitors will always want to come and experience.
Nancy Rosen is the co-owner of the Rocky Mountain Christmas Store, with her daughter Julianne Rosen-Carone, located at 355 Main Street. The store has been in the same location for 30 years, but was purchased by Nancy and Julianne only 4 years ago. The Rocky Mountain Christmas Store is a year round Christmas store that celebrates all holidays and everyday living. We carry collectibles by Steinbach, Inge Glass, Willow Tree, Jim Shore and more.
