Kimball Arts Center Transformation Project
Wednesday, August 24, 2011
Bill Kimball gave this community an amazing gift through his creation of the Kimball Art Center. He donated the building and the land to give Park City all a gathering place to enrich lives through exposure to the arts. The Kimball Arts Center is proud of their role in preserving his legacy, and by building on his vision they know they can do so much more.
The Kimball Arts Center was thrilled to unveil plans for the Kimball Art Center Transformation Project. They will preserve and renovate the original building and create an addition of a state of the art Art Center to be constructed on Main Street, immediately adjacent to the old.
The Kimball Arts Center is launching an international architectural design competition inviting some of the best architects from around the world to Park City to design the new building. The design competition will kick off in Fall 2011 with letters of invitation going out to architects. A jury will decide on the winner of the competition. This phased project is expected to begin mid 2013 estimating 24 months to complete the project in mid 2015.
The Kimball Arts Center can't do this alone and invites your input. Ideas and comments can also be sent via email to transformation@kimballartcenter.org or via Twitter @kimballart #KACTransformationProject. The Kimball Arts Center will share your input with the architects and jury. Join them in building the future of art in Park City!
