In the beginning, Park City was a rough and tumble silver mining boom town. The mines came and went but a raucous bunch of folks stayed on to ski and carouse. From those rowdy beginnings sprang bodacious boutiques and artsy stuff. Seriously good restaurants and a string of spirited watering holes. Come to think of it, Historic Park City today is still a lot like it was back in the 1890’s – only now with cushier lodgings and much better coffee.

This fall, Park City Interior Designer, Michele Gardiner, opened her own shop on Main Street.  Michele has worked as Park City Designer for 17 years and decided it was time to open her own place.  Located at 186 Main Street across from Grappa Italian Café, guests can enter the store and work with Michele on ideas for their own spaces.

Michele's goal and focus is to provide opportunity for creative artisans to showcase their items at affordable prices.  The Design Shoppe carries furniture, draperies, bedding, lights, paint, upholstery and art. It's a showroom, a retail store and a gallery.  To avoid being redundant, nothing in the Design Shoppe can be found anywhere online, Gardiner said.

The Design Shoppe by Park City Designer will offer workshops on things like hanging curtains, covering furniture and floral arrangements.  In addition to design, Michele is also a project manager for remodels and custom furniture design.
