Feb. 2011: Bansky: Oscar Nominee's Art on Display
Sunday, February 20, 2011
Historic Park City became the canvas for world renown graffiti artist Banksy in 2010 when he was in town for the screening of the film Exit Through the Gift Shop. The Oscar nominated film begins with a novice videographer, Thierry Guetta, following street artists in cities all over the world. A chance meeting with the famous Banksy, turns the film around to begin following Guetta's beginning career as an artist.
Two of Banksy's pieces remain in Park City and have been preserved by the property owners as a testament to the history of the town. Both pieces are on the east side of the 400 block of Main Street. The most visible piece is on the side of Java Cow. It shows a videographer picking a flower. The second piece is a bit hard to find, but is in front of OC Tanner on the side of the flower box (street side) at the pedestrian crossing along Main Street.
